The third match of the Border-Gavaskar Test Series being played between India and England will be played at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad from tomorrow. It will be a day-night test match. Usually red ball is used in test matches. But pink balls are used in day night test matches. A day before the match, captain Virat Kohli said it will not be easy to bat with the pink ball.
“In a match played against Bangladesh in 2019 in Kolkata, we experienced that it was more challenging to play the new pink ball instead of the pitch,” Virat said at the virtual press conference on Tuesday. Especially for a batting team it was very difficult to start their innings in the evening light. That last hour and a half of the game was very challenging. Spin will definitely come, but I don’t think the new ball and fast bowlers can be ignored. Pink balls keep them in play as long as the ball is good and bright. We know some things well and we are preparing accordingly. ”
Indian captain Virat said of the Kolkata Pink Ball Test, “It was the easiest to bat in the first session of the day. Especially when the sun sets and the ball does not move much, but when it starts getting dark then it becomes very difficult to bat. The light changes. It becomes difficult to see the ball. Then it becomes like playing the first morning session in a normal test match under the light. The ball swings a lot. We are not seeing the Pink Ball Test as one win and one draw. We want to win both. For us, these are the two sports of cricket and we are focusing only on this. ”
