New Delhi. The mini auction of IPL 2021 was a big one for Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 14.25 crore, seven times more than his base price of 2 crore. It was already expected that Maxwell would get a big bid and RCB would try to buy this player. The same happened in the auction.
After Maxwell sold so expensive, there were also fun reactions on social media. Former India opener Virender Sehwag shared a funny video from his Twitter account. In which a man is seen dancing. With this video, Sehwag wrote that the same atmosphere prevails at Maxwell’s during every IPL auction. Commendator Harsha Bhogle also tweeted a fun buy by paying a hefty price to Maxwell. He compared Maxwell to the stock market index Sensex. Apart from this, many Twitter users also took a dig at Maxwell by paying a hefty price. One user wrote that the prices of some things keep increasing with every year. Like Petrol and Glenn Maxwell.
Maxwell was bought by Punjab Kings in the previous season for Rs 10.75 crore. But his performance was not very good. He scored only 108 runs in 13 matches and could not cross the fifty-run mark even once. Even before the auction, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir claimed that this time RCB would show interest in buying Maxwell.
