This will be the 100th Test match of his career when England Test captain Joe Root will play a Test match against India in Chennai on 5 February. There is a fun fact associated with Root’s Test career, he played his debut Test match in India, then played his 50th Test in India and now he is going to play his 100th Test match in India too. Root’s Milestone is a fact related to Test matches, which will shine on the face of Indian cricket fans. Virat Kohli’s bat has made a century in Root’s debut test and 50th Test, so fans will hope that this coincidence remains the same and once again the century comes out of Virat’s bat.
Root debut test
Root played his debut Test match on 13 December 2012 in Nagpur. Root did not get a chance to play in the first three matches of that Test series and made his debut in the last match of the series played in Nagpur. England won that Test series 2–1. The Nagpur Test ended on a draw. Root had scored 73 and notout 20 runs in that match. In that match for India, Virat Kohli scored 103 runs in the first innings. Virat and Mahendra Singh Dhoni saved Team India from defeat in that match. Dhoni had scored 99 runs in that match. Due to these two, Team India was able to score more than 300 runs in the first innings.
Route 50th Test
Root played the 50th Test match of his career on 17 November 2016 in Visakhapatnam. Even then England captain Alastair Cook was still there, but by then Root had confirmed his place in the team and his batting was also highly praised. Virat Kohli was the captain of Team India at that time and he scored a memorable innings of 167 runs in the first innings. Virat contributed 81 runs in the second innings. Root, who scored 53 runs in the first innings, was dismissed after scoring 25 runs in the second innings. India won that match by a big margin of 246 runs and Virat Kohli was the man of the match.
