Sports desk. India’s limited-overs specialist players like Vijay Hazare Trophy opener Shikhar Dhawan have been asked to reach Ahmedabad on March 1 ahead of the five-match T20 series against England. Apart from Dhawan, youngsters Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav and Rahul Teotia are also participating in the 50-over domestic tournament and are part of the bio bubble made in five cities. The BCCI has selected a 19-member team for the T20 series starting on March 12 in Ahmedabad. The T20 series between India and England will be played from March 12 to 20. After this, the three-match ODI series will be played in Pune from March 23 to 28. The four-match Test series is going on 1-1, while the third Test will be played at the newly constructed Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera from Wednesday.
A senior Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Shikhar has to reach Ahmedabad on March 1 along with other players. As far as we know, all the limited overs specialist players have been asked to play two to three matches so that they stay in rhythm as they have to be part of each other bio bubble between the Kovid-19 rules. At the same time, the selection committee wants to create a pool of T20 players. The players in this pool will practice with the Indian team at different times. He will also practice at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
