Earlier, he bowled 53 overs during an innings in the 2012 match against Australia in Adelaide. This is the third fifth time in Tests when Ashwin has bowled more than 52 overs. Ashwin took the wickets of opener Rory Burns, Ollie Pope and James Anderson in the first innings of the Chennai Test. The last wicket of England’s innings was bowled to James Anderson by Ashwin. England captain Joe Root, who was playing his 100th Test career in the first innings, scored 218 runs. Apart from this, opener Dom Sibley scored 87 and all-rounder Ben Stokes scored 82 runs.
