New Delhi: Another major fire broke out in Delhi. A fire broke out in the ICU ward of Safdarjung Hospital in the early hours today. As the incident was reported, around 60 patients were shifted to other wards and 10 fire brigades were pressed into service to reduce the flames.
According to reports, no casualty has been reported so far. A fire broke out on the first floor of the hospital. Fire extinguishers have been controlled by firefighters. Fire Department officials said that a cooling operation is currently underway. The incident took place around 6.35 am, after a fire was reported in the ICU ward. Authorities have not yet ascertained the cause of the blaze. However, it is speculated that an electrical short circuit may be the cause.
Safdarjung Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital and is a three-story block. It is the largest centrally operated hospital in the country in terms of bed strength.
