CBI reaches Abhishek’s house as soon as Mamta Banerjee leaves, interrogates daughter-in-law Rujira in coal scam case

A CBI team arrived at the residence of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in South Kolkata on Tuesday to question his wife Rujira in the alleged coal theft case. Officials gave this information. Before the CBI team reached there, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee to meet her at the residence on Harish Mukherjee Road in South Kolkata. Mamta stayed here for only 10 minutes.

Responding to a CBI summon on Monday, Rujira Banerjee, wife of Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, said she would be available from 23 am to 3 pm on 23 February 2021 for questioning in the alleged coal theft scam. Sources said that the CBI has sought details of Rujira’s bank transactions in the illegal coal mining case.

The CBI on Monday also questioned Rujira’s sister Maneka Gambhir in the case. On Monday, two women officers of the CBI reached Rujira’s sister Maneka Gambhir’s residence in Kolkata for questioning and questioned her for about three hours. The ruling party has alleged that the agency is questioning relatives of the Trinamool Congress leader before the assembly elections in West Bengal. Assembly elections are due in the state in April-May.
