Everyone knows the Father of the Nation, but does anyone know the secret of Gandhi’s success. It is said that behind every successful man is a woman’s hand. His wife Kasturba Gandhi was also behind Mahatma Gandhi. Kasturba Gandhi was born on 11 April 1869 in Porbandar, Kathiawar, Gujarat. Although Kasturba was 6 months older than Mahatma Gandhi. His father Gokuldas Makanji was an ordinary businessman. Kasturba was his third child. As a child, he got engaged to Mahatma Gandhi at the age of 7 and the two married when Kasturba was 13 years old.
The two had lived together since the year 1896 after returning from England and South Africa. It was here that his life changed and later he got the name of Ba. In the year 1932, Bapu fasted in Yerwada Jail in connection with the Harijans, after which Ba was in Sabarmati Jail, but was rested when he was sent to Yerwada Jail. In South Africa, a law was passed in 1913 that recognized marriages other than those conducted in accordance with Christianity and recorded with an officer of the Department of Marriage.
He also opposed the law there and performed Satyagraha. According to Christianity, marriage was being accepted by the government there, but they started Satyagraha with some other women and the authorities had to obey them. She stood step by step with Mahatma Gandhi. Many times Mahatma Gandhi ji did not support him but he never left Bapu. On 22 February 1944, he continued his Satyagraha movement in India against the English story and laid down his life.
