Health Tip: If you eat your breakfast before 8:30 am, there is a high probability that you may be able to reduce the risk factors of type-2 diabetes, the researchers say. The findings indicated that people who start eating before 8:30 am have lower blood sugar levels and lower insulin resistance, which helps reduce the risk of developing type-2 diabetes. .
“We found that people who started eating earlier in the day had lower blood sugar levels and lower insulin resistance, even if they had restricted their food intake to less than 10 hours per day, or their food intake daily. Spread over 13 hours, ”said Maryam Ali, lead researcher at North Western University in Chicago.
Insulin resistance occurs when the body does not react to the insulin that the pancreas produces and glucose is less able to enter cells. The team said that people with insulin resistance are at greater risk of developing type-2 diabetes. Insulin resistance and high blood sugar levels both affect a person’s metabolism, affecting the breakdown of food by its simple components – protein, carbohydrates (or sugars), and fat.
Metabolic disorders such as diabetes occur when these normal processes are disrupted. For the study, presented at the annual meeting of the Endocrine Society at about 2021, researchers analyzed data from 10,575 adults. They divided the participants into three groups based on the total duration of food intake: 10 hours, 10–13 hours and more than 13 hours per day. They then formed six subgroups based on the duration of the meal, starting before or after 8: 30 am.
They analyzed this data to determine whether eating duration and time were associated with increased blood sugar levels and predicted insulin resistance. Insulin resistance was higher with a duration of reduced eating intervals, but was lower before 8:30 pm at the time of onset of eating in all groups.
