Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel in the Gujarat government also issued an explanation saying that the name of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was never attached to the stadium. According to a video posted by PIB, Nitin Patel said, “This stadium is owned by the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) and was always known as Motera Stadium. So there is no question of renaming it now It was Narendra Modi who first pioneered the idea of building a new stadium in place of the old stadium, when he was the president of the Gujarat Cricket Association. ”
