Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President MK Stalin wished the 67-year-old along with many leaders including Congress’s Rahul Gandhi on Sunday.
In his greetings on Monday, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Happy Birthday to DMK President Mr. MK Stalin. Wishing you good health and lots of wishes,” apart from the former Congress President, who congratulated the DMK chief from Puducherry Chief Minister Narayanaswamy and VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan.
The occasion marked by Stalin’s request not to celebrate the occasion of anti-poor welfare activities and camps for aspiring job seekers by the party because of veteran DMK leader. Ambajahan was not keeping good health.
Stalin, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, had requested the cadres not to celebrate his birthday in view of 97-year-old Ambazhagan’s hospitalization. He had also asked partymen not to call on Sunday.
The 234-member elections to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly will be held in a single phase on 6 April and the counting of votes will take place on 2 May. The ruling AIADMK is contesting in a pre-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Stalin has joined hands with MDMK of Congress, Left parties, Vaiko. This time actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan’s party Makkal Neithi Maam (MNM) is also in the fray.
