A retired IAS officer in Lucknow has filed a theft complaint against his son and daughter-in-law. In the complaint lodged in the Gomti Nagar Extension area, he has accused his son and daughter-in-law of criminal betrayal and stole Rs 24 lakh cash and several gold ornaments from his flat. Former IAS officer Madanpal Arya has said in his complaint that his son Rajat Arya and daughter-in-law Barkha are residents of New Delhi, came to his flat in the last week of February and requested him to let him stay with me.
“Rajat and Barkha told me that they had suffered heavy losses due to the lockout and had a debt of several lakhs of rupees on them,” he told the police. I got emotional and agreed to keep up with me. On 27 March, I went to Lakhimpur Kheri for some personal work. After which on the night of March 30, Rajat called me and told me that he was leaving. I asked Rajat to give the key to Rampal. After which, when I returned on 1 April, I received Rs. 24 lakh cash, 1 gold watch, 4 gold bracelets, 3 gold chains, gold bangles and 1 locket missing from the cabinet.
He said, “After which I called my wife to inquire if she had kept them somewhere and then called the SHO of Gomti Nagar to inspect the spot.” SHO Pawan Kumar of Gomti Nagar Extension said, “We have registered a case of criminal breach of trust and are taking action in the case.”
