Farmers call for 4-hour ‘rail stop’ against agricultural laws


New Delhi: The United Farmers Front, which is opposing the agricultural laws, has called for rail roko today. Farmers’ unions want the government to withdraw all three agricultural laws. Farmers protesting against the agricultural laws have planned a four-hour ‘rail stop’ on Thursday to force the central government to repeal the laws. The government and farmers have held 11 rounds of talks so far. There has been no discussion since the violence on 26 January during the ‘Farmers Tractor Parade’ in Delhi.

Today, ‘Rail Stop’ will be held across the country from 12 noon to 4 pm. Earlier, on January 26, apart from the tractor march, a nationwide ‘Chakka Jam’ was organized on February 6. Many trains in Punjab have been diverted or canceled. Railways has deployed 20 additional Railway Protection Special Forces (RPSF) companies across the country including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
