Ujjain: The dancers of the Drupada Dance Academy of the city registered a major victory at the All India Dance and Music Festival “Khanak Mahotsav” held at Ujjain on 1 and 2 February at Vikram Kirti Mandir Auditorium. The festival was organized by Nritya Mudra Kathak Pune and Prarthana Entertainment. Ashish Pillai was awarded the Kala Arpan Guru Samman and Purva Pandey of the Academy was performed as a guest artist at the festival and awarded the Kala Vibhuti Award. Ashish Pillai said that offline programs are gradually starting to give relief to the dancers. Since the lockdown was being performed digitally, the Khanak Festival was organized keeping all security precautions in mind. The academy’s young dancers were highly educated to perform on stage in front of a live audience. The academy director reported that the performers were trained in almost solo dance and offline training was conducted for the group. The efforts of students and parents in managing the offline classes were commendable.
