The Jajpur police initiated an investigation into the mysterious death of Jharapula Nayaka, a student of Rama Devi Women’s University and brought the accused Rakesh Swain to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday for further investigation into the case. According to sources, the police team revisited the crime scene in room number 201 of the guesthouse to get a clear picture of the sequence of events on the fateful day.
The special team of Kuakhia Police along with the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Jakhpur took the accused to a guesthouse in Dharam Vihar area of Bhubaneswar where she stayed with Jharapula on the night of 26 January.
Although the accused, suspected to be the lover of the deceased, have been named, the police are yet to establish the exact motive of the crime. The investigation is on. We are following all the procedures as per law and will reveal the details on completion of the investigation, ”said SDPO, Jajpur.
The police team is also expected to take the accused to a restaurant bordering Lingaraj police station, where they dined with Jharapula before proceeding to the guest house. This is the second day of the accused’s three-day remand. The police had yesterday remodeled the crime scene to find out how the body of Jharapula was laid on the roadside near Moolpala in Jajpur district.
