Kolkata: Before the West Bengal assembly elections, the state CM Mamta Banerjee had announced to contest from Nandigram challenging Shubhendu Adhikari. In this order, Panchayat Minister and former Kolkata Mayor Subrata Mukherjee will spend 3 days in Nandigram in East Midnapore. It will start from 1 February. Ever since Mamata Banerjee has announced to contest from Nandigram, TMC leaders have been seen locally.
In the same sequence, before Mamata Banerjee’s Nandigram rally, Subrata Mukherjee will arrive on a 3-day visit to Nandigram and take stock of the situation. Last month, Mamata Banerjee made a big announcement against Suvendu Adhikari, who joined BJP at the January 18 rally. In the meantime, she had said that she would contest elections to defeat Shubhendu Adhikari from Nandigram, from where Shubhendu Adhikari is going to contest. If TMC sources are to be believed, his surprise announcement angered some party and district level leaders.
District Council Deputy Chief Sheikh Sufiyan hoped that he would be the next Trinamool candidate from Nandigram. But after the announcement of Mamata Banerjee, Sufiyan expressions have changed from one to another, leading to apprehension that this resentment is directly related to Mamata Banerjee. Since this announcement by Mamata Banerjee, Sufiyan has not been attending most of the party meetings.
