5 tips for success
Goal setting is the true secret to success in any area of life. But although setting a goal may seem simple, achieving it is usually another question.
Why is it like this?
Because you will never achieve your goals unless you: (1) know exactly what you want, (2) are passionate about your goal, and (3) have a solid, realistic plan of action . It is that which distinguishes between vague dreams and desires – and indeed the goal achieved!
When you are going after a goal, many obstacles and challenges will fly in your face. Here are 5 time-tested ways that will help you achieve success.
1. Know exactly what your goal is
Your first job is to know what your goal is. What would achieving that goal actually look like? Be as specific as possible about your desired end result. Your success will be a measure of your clarity – because an achievable goal plan cannot be built around a vague “dream”.
If your goal is to create a more successful business, what will it look like? Are you thinking in terms of hiring someone else just to give you free time? Are you looking for a very specific monthly benefit? Or can your goal be best expressed in terms of a certain lifestyle?
Regardless of what you want, the best way to get it is to first make it as clear as you want. It can be hard work. But without a clear mental picture, you will never have the necessary attention to achieve your goal.
2. Be Prepared to Pay “Entrance Fee”
Success takes dedicated planning and effort. In a way, it is like building a house. In the beginning you have a difficult concept. Then you develop a complete set of plans – and you immediately move closer to success. The same is true for creating a better lifestyle, or more successful business.
But success always requires an * entry fee *.
Creating more success in your business can mean less entertaining time. Less TV may be required to write your own book. Being close to your children may require you to adjust your work or social activities.
This is a “full glass” deal. If your life (your time) is already filled to the top, then there is no place to do anything new. The entry fee is taking time to create that new one.
3. Focus on your goal every day
I am sure that you probably want to achieve your goal as quickly as possible. Therefore clear mental focus is very important.
Continuous daily focusing requires that you “burn” the new neural pathways necessary to create your new goal. Without focusing daily, old mental habits that keep you from your goal will continue to be handled.
This happens automatically – since these old habits go deep into your subconscious mind 24/7. The only way to override anti-subconscious success messages is to consciously focus on what you want – and build new neural networks!
That is why success is an everyday occurrence.
Re-commit to your goal everyday. Do not let your goal sit in the back seat for daily tasks and distractions that it will try to handle. Life will try to get in your way. Just stay, of course, and every day. Focus on your goals, and success!
4. Get Emotional
One of the most powerful tools in your “success tool box” is genuine passion for your goal.
Because intense passionate desire for your goal will help you burn those new neural pathways even faster. Many, many scientific studies have shown that intense emotion (passion) is an important breakthrough tool.
Plus (and it’s actually a * big * plus), intense passion will also help eliminate any inappropriate old “failure messages” stored in your subconscious mind faster.
5. Have to take continuous action
In many ways, actually taking action can be the hardest step. Successful goals by taking small actions one after the other
