Mumbai: 119 birds were found dead in central Maharashtra due to avian influenza threat in the country and their samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing. Since January 8, 19,558 birds have been found dead. It is learned that this information was given by the officials of the State Animal Husbandry Ministry on Saturday.
As per the information received, he said that 119 birds including 59 poultry birds were found dead across the state on Friday and their samples have been sent to Bhopal-based National High Security Veterinary Institute and Disease Investigation Division Pune for avian influenza testing.
Officials said that as per protocol, birds of poultry farm within a kilometer radius of infected birds are being eradicated. He also mentioned that 71,883 poultry birds, 44,146 eggs, and 63,339 kg of poultry foods have been destroyed so far.
